Micky Dolenz on Davy Jones: "He was the heart and soul of the show"

On Wednesday, the passing of legendary musical icon Davy Jones shocked and saddened fans across America, and across the globe. Having garnered most of his fame as one of the founding members of the band "The Monkees" – and as a star on the television series by the same name – Jones is dead of a heart attack at the age of 66.

This evening Piers Morgan is joined by Jones' longtime bandmate and friend Micky Dolenz, who shared his memories of the late international heartthrob:

"He got this advice from someone and went on to be just an incredible talent and a wonderful performer and such a lovely person and such a wonderful friend and the – a heart of gold," remembers Dolenz. "And would just do anything for you, anything, anywhere. And had lovely children who I feel, you know, I have so much pain for right now."

Columbine principal offers Chardon help

Columbine High principal Frank DeAngelis speaks to CNN’s Soledad O’Brien on offering help to principal of Chardon High School in wake of shooting.

DeAngelis says, “What I could tell him is that there are so many people out there that support him. Columbine High School is sending their love and support. Many of the teachers who were in the [Columbine] building that day on April 20th that offered to go out and help students and staff and community members. The one piece of information I think that still rings out in my mind is someone said ‘it’s a marathon, not a sprint.’ And just to know that they’re not in it alone.”

Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien airs week mornings from 7-9am ET on CNN.

Santorum press sec. on possible Michigan win, robo-calls, Catholic vote

Alice Stewart, national press secretary for the Rick Santorum campaign, talks with CNN’s Soledad O’Brien about Michigan primary, robo-calls and Catholic vote.

Responding to O’Brien’s question about whether or not the robo-calls were a mistake, Stewart says, “Absolutely not. We'll see how the next states play out, but the key is we've always said we need to appeal to conservatives and also Reagan Democrats.”

On the delegate count in Michigan primary, she states, “And there is a good chance we will tie with him in the delegate count, and quite possibly, even surpass him in the delegate count, and that's key. And if that happens, we are clearly the winner in this case. Rick appealed to them as a conservative saying my conservative views and values will help you as a Reagan Democrat.”

Reince Priebus, RNC chairman, explains why he thinks that a tough primary is good for the Republican party.

Priebus says, “I know that people argue over whether, you know, having a tough primary is a good thing or a bad thing. I just happen to believe that it's good for a party, as you and I have talked about many times.”

He continues, “And I think in the end, independents will come our way based on where we are as far as whether or not we're better off today than we were three or four years ago, where are we in regard to the economy and is it better or worse?"

Michigan GOP: Robo-calls 'disappointing'

Bobby Schostak, Michigan Republican Party chairman, weighs in on the Rick Santorum campaign robo-calls and Mitt Romney's primary win.

On the robo-calls, Schostak says, “Well, you know, obviously we were disappointed. That's not the way that we want to see Republicans behave. Our voters are, you know, are informed voters. I frankly don't think that it had much of an impact. I think all of the candidates on the Republican ticket ended up getting a few Democrats who showed up to vote. Obama was on the ballot. If they wanted to come and vote in our primary, it was open. They could have voted for Obama. And at the end of the day, yes, it's disappointing. It's not the way we would like to see Republicans in a primary behave.”
