CNN Worldwide Honored with Six News & Documentary Emmy Awards
CNN FILMS PRIME MINISTER WINS TWO EMMY® AWARDS, INCLUDING BEST DOCUMENTARY
NEW YORK – (May 28, 2026) – CNN Worldwide celebrates six Emmy® Awards in the 47th Annual News and Documentary Emmy® Award competition. The winners were announced this week by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in New York City.
CNN’s wins showcase the network’s excellence across international reporting, enterprise journalism and nonfiction storytelling. Among the honors, CNN International Correspondent Hanako Montgomery was recognized as Outstanding Emerging News Journalist, while CNN’s Jerusalem Correspondent Jeremy Diamond took home the Emmy® for Outstanding News Interview: Short Form for his exclusive conversation with Ghazi Hamad, a key Hamas negotiator and member of the militant group’s political bureau.
CNN Chief International Correspondent Clarissa Ward’s dispatch from Syria, “Chasing a Ghost: The Search for Austin Tice,” earned Outstanding Hard News Report: Long Form, marking the first Emmy® Award recognition for original reporting created exclusively for CNN’s All Access streaming subscription offering.
Also recognized was programming from CNN Originals with The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper earning Outstanding Recorded News Program for the third consecutive year. The entire The Whole Story library of nearly 100 episodes is available to stream on demand at CNN.com/Watch and on the CNN app.
In addition, CNN Anchor Fredricka Whitfield was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences prestigious Gold & Silver Circle Honor Society, recognizing her distinguished career and significant contributions to television journalism over more than 25 years in the industry.
CNN’s recognition extended to the Documentary Emmy® Awards on Thursday night, where CNN Films’ Prime Minister won Best Documentary and Outstanding Politics and Government Documentary. The acclaimed film premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, earning the Audience Award for World Cinema Documentary before being acquired by HBO and CNN Films.
