CNN Sees Best May Total Day Performance Since 2024

Double-Digit Year-Over-Year Growth Across Platforms

Digital Subscribers Up Along With Deep Engagement

NEW YORK, NY – (JUNE 3, 2026)  CNN finished May delivering another month of strong performance across TV, digital and streaming platforms. CNN had its best May Total Day among both P2+ and P25-54 since the 2024 presidential election cycle. Further, CNN marked its best May M-Su Prime performance among P2+ since 2022 and among P25-54 since 2023. CNN also continued to add digital subscribers, surpassing internal goals, during a month of deepening engagement across platforms.

Television viewership interest has led CNN to be ranked in the Top 5 of the most watched networks in all of cable in Total Day among P2+ for 17 consecutive months and in the top 10 among P25-54 for five consecutive months. CNN posted more year-over-year total viewer growth than any other network in the top 10 cable rankings.

Compared to May 2025, CNN saw double-digit year over year growth in U.S. TV audiences among both demos and across all dayparts and shows. In Total Day, CNN was up +31% among P2+ (357k to 468k) and up +22% P25-54 (60k to 73k). CNN’s M-Su primetime lineup was up +48% among P2+ (445k to 659k) and up +44% among P25-54 (80k to 115k).

In May, CNN’s distinctive political coverage included its California Governor Primary Debate (Tue, 5/5/26, 9p-11p), which saw a multiplatform worldwide reach of 7.7 million. The debate ranked #3 in all of cable among P25-54. The live programming was up vs. its quarter-hour lead-in among both P25-54 (+102%: 202k vs. 100k) and P2+ (+44%: 1.028m vs. 713k), and up vs. the prior four Tuesdays among both P25-54 (+9%: vs. 186k) and P2+ (+12%: vs. 918k). The debate was also the most-viewed live event for May on CNN All Access.

Premium, distinctive programming contributed to increases across platforms. The six-part CNN Original Series Kara Swisher Wants to Live Forever ended its run in the top 10 in all of cable among P2+ in its time period (#7). Eva Longoria: Searching for France was up by double-digits vs. the prior season (Searching for Spain) among both P25-54 (+48%: 77k vs. 52k) and P2+ (+23%: 431k vs. 349k). In addition to TV momentum, Kara Swisher Wants to Live Forever and Eva Longoria: Searching For France continued to be the top video on demand programming on CNN All Access in both viewers and hours watched amongst subscribers.

Digital video was also a key audience driver in May, with daily intentional video starts per viewer up +33% year over year. CNN’s social reach notched notable growth, too, with CNN’s WhatsApp channel crossing 13M followers, CNN’s Threads channel hitting 5M followers, and CNN Reddit surpassing 1M Karma over Memorial Day weekend.  Year to date, CNN Podcasts have over 50 million downloads and streams.
