Maddie Gannon Joins CNN Newsource as Correspondent

WASHINGTON, DC – (May 21, 2026) – CNN announced today that Maddie Gannon will join CNN Newsource as a Correspondent based in Washington, DC. She will cover the White House and the midterms leading into the 2028 presidential contest for the network and its more than 1,000 domestic and international affiliate partners.  

Gannon joins CNN from Spectrum News’ Washington, D.C. bureau, where she covered national politics with a focus on the White House. Gannon reported on the 2024 election and covered both the Biden and Trump administrations, representing Spectrum News during White House briefings. 

Gannon came to Washington, D.C. from the NBC affiliate, KGET, in Bakersfield, California, where she was the station’s political reporter. Gannon co-moderated a series of local debates in the lead-up to the 2022 midterms and anchored election night coverage. She also regularly covered then-Bakersfield congressman and Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, interviewing him regularly and producing a one-hour, Emmy-nominated documentary on his rise to the role. 

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Gannon graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in journalism.
