Our second stop was “Hospital La Mosca,” the only pediatric public hospital in Nicaragua that provides specialized care. One of the lead doctors says that unfortunately some parents have a difficult decision to make, treat their sick child at the hospital and leave their other children behind to starve or interrupt the medical care of a sick child. It’s an unimaginable decision indigent parents have to make in Nicaragua. In the midst of all the sad stories there is a man who makes sure children can be children, even on the worst days! Dr. Kelo Kurg and his team of volunteers donates his time every Sunday to entertain children and make them smile!
