CNN International launches first skiing segment, ‘Alpine Edge’

     

***Starts Thursday 13 December in ‘CNN World Sport’ at 1700 GMT***

Winter sports fans will be able to enjoy coverage of some of the world’s most exciting events in CNN International’s first skiing segment, ‘Alpine Edge’ which begins this week.

From Val d’Isere to Kitzbuhel, ‘Alpine Edge’ will report from many of the landmark locations in the Alpine World Cup calendar and the 2013 World Championships, featuring some of the most iconic ski runs in Europe. It will bring viewers access to the top names in the sport – on and off-piste, with a look back over its 150-year history, showcasing the must-have technology available to skiers today.

From the electrifying speed of the downhill and Super G to the technical mastery of the slalom and giant slalom, ‘Alpine Edge’ will follow the twists and turns of the World Cup series with daily features in the run-up to the key events and results carried in CNN’s ‘World Sport’ programme.

‘Alpine Edge’ begins this week in the famous French ski resort of Val d’Isere where the segment will be meeting the biggest name in the women’s sport, U.S. skier Lindsey Vonn, as she resumes her battle with Slovenian rival Tina Maze and Germany’s Maria Hoefl-Riesch.

Airs in ‘CNN World Sport’ at 1700 GMT, Thursday 13 December, Friday 14 December & Saturday 16 December.
