Spelling Bee champ reveals winning study strategy

Snigdha Nandipati tells Soledad O’Brien that though she recognized the word “guetapens,” she only fully realized that she’d won the Scripps National Spelling Bee when the confetti began to rain down on the stage.  She studied between 6-12 hours a day to prepare for the competition and 2012 was her last year of eligibility for the competition.  She plans to apply the prize for college.

Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien airs weekday mornings from 7-9am on CNN.
