Rep. Mica: White House knew about GSA scandal, withheld information

On Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien Rep. John Mica (R-FL) suggests the White House tried to cover up the GSA scandal.

Rep. Mica says, “As soon as [Susan Brita] heard about it, she went to the Inspector General and proper authorities. People from the White House knew about it, did nothing, kept it quiet, until just a few days ago when a statement was released by the President condemning the act. We think that, again, they’ve held this information.”

When O’Brien presses him on whether or not he is making an allegation against the White House, Mica answers, “We have hundreds of pages of testimony, and some of that will come out in today’s hearing. And in fact, people did let the White House know and the White House did not choose to intervene or to take action early on. Nothing happened until just a few days ago. And thank goodness for people like Susan Brita and the Inspector General who blew the whistle and then got the information and made it public.”

Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien airs weekday mornings from 7-9am ET on CNN.
