John McCain: “Is [Romney] a perfect candidate? No”

Senator John McCain (R-AZ) spoke with CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien on Starting Point to explain his endorsement of Mitt Romney for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.

When asked about his 2008 quote on Romney being a ‘manager, not a leader,’ McCain replied, “Politics is a collision sport, not a contact sport.” He continued, “We had disagreements during the (2008) primaries.”

“Is [Romney] a perfect candidate? No. Was I a perfect candidate? No. But I think it’s far superior to…a re-election of President Obama,” McCain said.

Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien airs weekdays 7-9am ET on CNN.
