CNN iReport takes a ‘Walk around the World’ and wins a Webby Award

It was announced today that CNN ‘Walk Around the World’ is the winner of a Webby Award in the Video Remixes/Mashups category. The submission was selected as the winner from nearly 10,000 entries from all 50 US states and over 60 countries worldwide.

The ‘Walk in our Shoes’ project was a part of CNN iReport’s Weekend Assignment series. iReport invited people around the world to share a one-minute video of their favorite places to walk. The walks were then stitched together into one collective walk around the world. Over 450 iReporters from over 50 countries and six continents contributed to the project. The Webby Awards are the leading international awards honoring excellence on the Internet. The winners will be honored at the 15th Annual Webby Awards on June 13, 2011 in New York City.

CNN iReport has over 750,000 registered iReporters and has received iReport submissions from every country on the globe.
