CNN DEBUTS REIMAGINED MOBILE APP

CNN has reimagined mobile news, unveiling a brand new app rebuilt for speed, simplicity, in-depth storytelling and a focused, first-in-class video experience.

CNN’s 24/7 worldwide multimedia reporting will be updated constantly throughout the day, allowing users to experience the world of breaking news through in-depth stories, photo galleries and news video from every corner of the globe.

Featuring enhanced live streaming capabilities, the CNN app now allows users in the U.S. to watch live CNN, CNN International or HLN television, anytime, anywhere through CNNgo. After the first 10 minutes of viewing live television every day, users will be prompted to log in with their satellite or cable provider information for unlimited viewing. Digital only live feeds are also featured in the app.

On-demand content is also available from a library of more than 100 hours of programming from CNN news programs like “Anderson Cooper 360,” CNN Original Series like “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” and award-winning CNN Films.

The new app features custom alert settings, allowing app users to select the frequency they’d like to receive breaking news alerts from CNN. News junkies can choose to get all of CNN’s breaking news alerts, the day’s top news, or no alerts at all.

Users will also be able to view CNN’s virtual reality content directly in the CNN app, through an incredible native 360 viewing experience.

CNN Now Available on Google Home

Google Home owners now have access to CNN through the first Action that delivers topic-based TV coverage in near-real time on the device. 

The CNN “Action” features audio news straight from CNN’s world-class anchors and reporters around the globe. Content from the likes of Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer, and John King are available as soon as 5 minutes after broadcast. The Action helps users quickly discover the latest stories CNN is covering and dive into any one of them for CNN’s full broadcast audio coverage powered by CNNgo.

“We’re excited to grow CNN’s suite of products in the voice services space by bringing our real-time, conversational news experience to Google Home,” said Joshua Silverboard, Sr. Director for Emerging Products at CNN.  “Google Home and other voice platforms like it are creating new paths to bring personal, engaging experiences to our audiences. Our custom action on Google Home and the platform that powers it are early in their evolution, but this product is a great example of CNN’s continued efforts to reach and engage our audiences in unique ways, wherever they are.”

Google Home owners can receive the latest top news stories from CNN by simply speaking phrases like, “OK Google, let me talk to CNN”; “OK Google, ask CNN for the latest stories.”; or “OK Google, ask CNN for the latest on President Trump.”

The new action compliments CNN’s previously launched Narrated News on Google Home, which features a daily morning and evening audio news briefing on the latest headlines in three minutes or less. CNNgo is a next-generation product that gives viewers unprecedented control over their TV news experience, and is also available on Amazon Alexa, CNN.com, CNN’s iPad app and on Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV.

CNN DIGITAL SEES BEST DAY IN HISTORY: HIGHEST TRAFFIC, VIDEO STARTS ON WEDNESDAY, NOV. 9, 2016

CNN Digital broke all historical records with its largest global audience in history on Wednesday, November 9th. CNN recorded its most trafficked day ever, serving 77 million global unique users with 483 million page views of content. CNN also saw 83 million video starts and 29 million live streams— all-time records for all key metrics.

CNN Politics also had its best day on record, with 31 million unique visitors, and 32 million video starts.

Across its social platforms, CNN also engaged with massive audiences on November 9th, 2016. On Facebook alone, CNN saw a total of 171.7 million interactions, 169.7 million video views and 47.6 million Facebook Live views. CNN engaged with 5 million unique users across messaging apps including Kik, LINE and Facebook Messenger, in addition to 5 million unique visitors on Apple News, and 4 million on Google AMP, collectively showing record-breaking reach and audience size across CNN’s ubiquitous coverage.
