CNN DIGITAL SEES BEST DAY IN HISTORY: HIGHEST TRAFFIC, VIDEO STARTS ON WEDNESDAY, NOV. 9, 2016

CNN Digital broke all historical records with its largest global audience in history on Wednesday, November 9th. CNN recorded its most trafficked day ever, serving 77 million global unique users with 483 million page views of content. CNN also saw 83 million video starts and 29 million live streams— all-time records for all key metrics.

CNN Politics also had its best day on record, with 31 million unique visitors, and 32 million video starts.

Across its social platforms, CNN also engaged with massive audiences on November 9th, 2016. On Facebook alone, CNN saw a total of 171.7 million interactions, 169.7 million video views and 47.6 million Facebook Live views. CNN engaged with 5 million unique users across messaging apps including Kik, LINE and Facebook Messenger, in addition to 5 million unique visitors on Apple News, and 4 million on Google AMP, collectively showing record-breaking reach and audience size across CNN’s ubiquitous coverage.

EMPIRE STATE BUILDING TEAMS WITH CNN, INSTAGRAM AND CA TECHNOLOGIES FOR AN UNPRECEDENTED ELECTION NIGHT ACTIVATION

2016 ELECTION RESULTS, PHOTOGRAPHY AND MOVING IMAGES PROJECTED ONTO SOUTH FAÇADE OF NYC’S ICONIC TOWER

CNN, Instagram, and CA Technologies, in an exclusive partnership with the Empire State Building (ESB), are bringing to the New York City skyline a breathtaking display of photography, real-time election results, maps, voter mosaics and animations to commemorate one of the nation’s most significant elections. The projection on New York’s most iconic landmark begins at 8PM ET tonight — November 8, 2016 – and will continue throughout the evening, ultimately calling the race for a new President of the United States of America.   

 The ESB activation, produced by Obscura Digital, is the final stop and grand finale of the #MyVote nationwide tour – a partnership between CNN, Instagram, Facebook and CA Technologies.  

The projections will feature Instagram images uploaded by voters from around the nation using the #MyVote hashtag. #MyVote projections will also be featured at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. and Miracle Mile in Las Vegas. Additionally, as part of the #MyVote tour, the Coit Tower in San Francisco will be lit up in either red or blue lights symbolizing the state’s choice for America’s next president.

Projections on ESB, and other national landmarks, will be featured on CNN and across both CNN and ESB’s digital platforms as part of Election Night in America coverage. To catch a real-life view of this incredible display, visit the Empire State Building tonight where street teams are handing out commemorative frames at Madison Square Park.

CNN Digital continued its streak as the nation’s top news destination in September 2016. It outpaced all news and information competitors with more multiplatform unique visitors, mobile unique visitors, multiplatform views, and video starts than any other news outlet and reached its 17th straight month as the top destination for digital news video.

The CNN app for Apple TV showcases an investment in streaming audiences with a strengthened offering of live CNN, CNN International, and HLN to viewers who sign in using their TV provider log-in and password.   

In addition to live streaming of the three networks, CNN’s Apple TV experience offers its largest digital on-demand content library yet, with 150 hours of premium, long-form programming including CNN Films, special reports and CNN Original Series such as the Emmy-winning Parts Unknown, This is Life with Lisa Ling, United Shades of America and more.
