Network Outperforms Fox News in Demo; MSNBC Lags far Behind
CNN Was Most Watched in Cable News at 10pm with 6.3 Million Total Viewers
Viewers turned to CNN in large numbers last night to learn about the Ferguson Grand Jury decision and its aftermath. At 9pm, when the prosecutor announced the decision, CNN averaged 3.155 million in the key demo 25-54 rating, Fox News followed with 2.186 million and MSNBC lagged far behind with 742k. In total viewers CNN averaged 6.265 million, Fox News had 7.256 million and MSNBC posted 2.197 million.
During the 10 pm hour which included the President’s remarks and coverage of the protests, CNN was the most-watched in cable news. In the demo, CNN’s audience grew to 3.473 million, Fox lost viewers dropping to 1.955 million and MSNBC also saw declines to 654k. CNN also garnered the most total viewers at 10pm, posting 6.256 million, Fox News had 5.737 million and MSNBC had 1.751 million.
In primetime last night (8-11pm), CNN also pulled ahead of Fox News averaging 2.611 million, FXNC followed with 1.653 million and MSNBC lagged with 544k among adults 25-54. In total viewers, CNN attracted 5.052 million, Fox News averaged 5.563 million and MSNBC had 1.622 million.
In total day, CNN also outperformed Fox in the demo rating– averaging 828k, Fox News followed with 576k and MSNBC had 186k.
In all of cable, CNN was top rated in total day and primetime yesterday in the demo 25-54 and 18-49 (outside of Monday Night Football).
