CNN Ranks #2 in Cable News During 2014 Midterm Election Night Coverage

POSTS +69% ADVANTAGE OVER MSNBC 

Network Grows the Most vs. Prior Four Weeks  

CNN’s coverage of the 2014 midterm elections ranked a strong second last night in cable news.  From 7-11pm, CNN averaged 812k in the key demo rating 25-54, a +69% advantage over MSNBC’s 481k, and 1.890 million among total viewers vs. MSNBC’s 1.590m.  Fox News posted 1.516m/5.831m respectively.

Compared to the 2010 midterm elections, Fox News was down the most – declining -31% in the key demo (2.184m vs. 1.516m), MSNBC was down -24% (633k vs. 481k) and CNN was off only -10% (906k vs. 812k).

Versus the prior four Tuesdays, CNN grew the most – increasing +480% in the demo 25-54 (140k vs. 812k), MSNBC grew +315% (116k vs. 481k) and Fox News was up +303% (376k vs. 1.516k).

Note:  CNN is currently unavailable in DISH Network homes. The projected impact on the national level among adults 25-54 is 13% of CNN’s primetime audience.
