CNN Original Series Continue to Deliver Winning Ratings Performance
CNN finished a strong second in cable news in October, out-rating MSNBC for the fourth consecutive month (and for six of the last eight months) in both Total Day and Primetime demos 25-54 (M-F, M-Su). The last time CNN topped MSNBC for four straight months in Total Day and Prime demos was six years ago (2008 elections). New Day topped MSNBC’s Morning Joe among A25-54 again this month, marking the CNN program’s longest winning streak (four straight months; six of the past eight). AC 360 easily outperformed MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes in both total viewers and the demo 25-54. Erin Burnett Outfront trounced MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews in the key demo, growing +5% – the only increase among cable news in the hour – while Matthews lost -52% of his audience. CNN Original Series This is Life with Lisa Ling and Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown ranked #1 in across cable news in their respective time periods in the key demo, topping MSNBC and Fox News combined. CNN anchors Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper will headline the network’s coverage, beginning at 5 p.m., along with chief Washington correspondent and anchor Jake Tapper providing political expertise and analysis on gubernatorial projections and candidate speeches throughout the evening. Chief national correspondent John King will once again utilize the “CNN Magic Wall,” featuring new advancements that include improved visual performance and graphics customized to communicate data results in real-time. Kicking off the day’s Election coverage, Early Start anchors John Berman and Christine Romans will begin special coverage at 5 a.m., followed by New Day with Chris Cuomo, Michaela Pereira and Alisyn Camerota at 6 a.m. Throughout the day, more than two-dozen reporters will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at where voters cast their ballots and where the votes are counted. Viewers will also get a peek inside campaign headquarters across the country of more than a dozen candidates.

Film Slated for 2015 Theatrical Run, Followed by CNN Broadcast
RADiUS and CNN Films have partnered on an as yet untitled film about campus sexual assault, it was announced today. Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning director Kirby Dick, and Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning producer Amy Ziering (The Invisible War) will direct and produce the film. RADiUS will distribute the film theatrically and CNN/U.S. has acquired the broadcast rights.
One in five women is sexually assaulted while in college, according to the Campus Sexual Assault Study of the National Institute of Justice, yet only a fraction of these acts of sexual violence are reported to campus officials and law enforcement and, even fewer result in punishment for the perpetrators. Besides the terrible, immediate impact these assaults have on the individual survivors, many of the perpetrators remain free to offend again. FULL POST

Kaci Hickox, a nurse placed under mandatory quarantine in New Jersey, told CNN today the "knee-jerk reaction by politicians" was not well planned out, "and to quarantine someone without a better plan in place, without more forethought, is just preposterous."
Hickox, who was working to help treat Ebola patients in Sierra Leone, has tested negative twice for Ebola and does not have symptoms, she said.
"This is an extreme that is really unacceptable and I feel like my basic human rights have been violated," Hickox told CNN's Candy Crowley on "State of the Union."
"To put me through this emotional and physical stress is completely unacceptable," she said. FULL POST
