AC360 Exclusive Video: Sotloff family spokesman says Steven was sold to ISIS by moderate rebels

In an exclusive interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, a spokesman for Steven Sotloff’s family said that they believe Steven was sold by “so-called moderate rebels” for “something between $25,000 and $50,000 to ISIS.”

Barak Barfi, a friend of the Sotloff family and Research Fellow at the New America Foundation, said sources on the ground told them that “Steven’s name was on a list that he had been responsible for the bombing of a hospital.  This was false. Activists spread his name around.”

Barfi continued: “Somebody at the border crossing made a phone call to ISIS and they set up a fake checkpoint with many people, and Steve and his people that he went in with could not escape.”
