This month, ‘Leading Women’ profiles Bobbi Brown who revolutionised the approach to natural makeup with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Wynn Resorts Macau, Linda Chen.

Enthralled by makeup from a young age, Bobbi Brown studied theatrical makeup at Boston’s Emerson College, before moving to New York City to make it as a professional makeup artist. Seven years after arriving in New York City, Brown’s big breakthrough was her first cover of American Vogue, shot by Patrick Demarchelier and featuring Naomi Campbell.
Ten years into her freelance career, Brown found nearly all makeup products looked too artificial, and had the idea to create a lipstick that didn’t smell, wasn’t dry or greasy, and looked like lips – only better. The result was a range of 10 brown-base lipstick shades, debuting at Bergdorf Goodman in 1991, and the conception of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.

Linda Chen is the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Wynn Resorts Macau, responsible for marketing and strategic development the company. An alumni of Cornell and Stanford, Chen previously served as Executive Vice President at MGM Mirage and Bellagio in Vegas, joining Wynn Resorts in 2002.
Chen tells ‘Leading Women’ about making the move to the new frontier of gaming, the Chinese enclave Macau, lessons she took from opening the MGM Grand and Bellagio in Vegas, and what her parents thought of her entering the Casino industry.

Saturday 26 July at 0830 BST/ 0930 CET and 2200 BST/ 2300 CET
Sunday 27 July at 1730 BST/ 1830 CET
Duration: 30 minutes

In July, ‘Winning Post’ takes a look at the Irish Derby: the festival that surrounds it, the industry behind it, and the racecourse it all takes place on.

The Curragh Racecourse is at the centre of the horse racing industry in Ireland, the home of five classical races including the Irish Derby. ‘Winning Post’ looks at the industry and beauty of the Curragh with a tour of the facilities from the director of Curragh racecourse and grounds manager Pat Kelly.

The area of the Curragh Plains is recognised as one of the oldest natural grasslands in Europe, and is the heart of the Irish bloodstock industry. Horses trained there have won major races around the world. ‘Winning Post’ visits The Curragh Training Grounds and surroundings farms, like Kildangan Stables, to get an in-depth look at the high quality work that is done there.

The programme also experiences the fashion, culture and excitement of the three day festival that celebrates the Irish Derby, and talks to Aidan O’Brien, trainer of this year’s winning horse ‘Australia’, as well as trainers and legends of Irish racing such as Dermot Weld, Jon Oxx and former jockey Michael Jinane.
