CNN named Europe’s biggest international news brand

– Retains #1 spot for cross-platform monthly reach

– Consolidates leadership position for reaching key business audience

EMS figures released today by Ipsos confirm CNN’s lead position as the number one news brand in Europe, reaching more upscale Europeans via TV and digital platforms* than any other brand in its category.

The independent survey shows that across TV and digital platforms, CNN reaches 40% of upscale Europeans every month, ahead of Sky News (31%), BBC World (29%), Euronews (28%), CNBC (14%) and Bloomberg (12%).

CNN’s cross-platform leadership becomes even more pronounced when looking at a core business audience. CNN reaches more C-Suites (54%) and business decision makers (55%) every month than any other international business or news network, and has grown its advantage amongst these core demographics over niche business networks Bloomberg (23% C-Suites, 21% business decision makers) and CNBC (22% C-Suites, 23% business decision makers).

In addition, cross-platform EMS figures show that CNN has more exclusive viewers than any other news competitor. Every month CNN exclusively reaches twice as many upscale Europeans than BBC World (20% CNN exclusive vs. 9% BBC exclusive), and almost two thirds compared to Sky News (22% CNN vs. 14% Sky).**

“As consumers can choose from more and more options from content providers on various platforms, and clutter creates a commoditised landscape for our industry, CNN continues to stand out by providing unparalleled, unrivalled and objective news and information to a global audience of leaders and business decision makers,” said Rani R. Raad, Chief Commercial Officer, CNN. “In a year where our business is vibrant across both digital and linear, and the network continues to receive accolades such as the RTS Channel of the Year Award for the second year in a row, it is great to see within the EMS universe that CNN is yet again the number one news provider.”
