CNN’s Nick Paton Walsh reports on jihadi smuggling route in southern Turkey

CNN correspondent Nick Paton Walsh (@npwcnn) reports exclusively on a route in southern Turkey where would-be jihadists are being smuggled into Syria. He travels the route with a smuggler who says many recruits – who ultimately join the Syrian al Qaeda-linked radical group, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) – find crossing into Syria a religious experience.

“When they get to the fence, they kneel and cry, they weep, like they’ve just met something more precious to them than their own family. They believe this land, Syria, is where God’s judgment will come to pass.”
