Two CNN International journalists honoured at 2013 Business Travel Journalism Awards

  • CNN International’s monthly CNN Business Traveller programme scoops two prizes
  • Ayesha Durgahee named Business Travel News Journalist of the Year (trade)
  • Rosie Tomkins wins Best Newcomer to Business Travel or Meetings & Events Journalism

CNN International programme ‘CNN Business Traveller’ has been honoured with two prestigious 2013 Business Travel Journalism Awards.

At an awards dinner at The Bloomsbury Ballroom in central London, it was announced that CNN correspondent Ayesha Durgahee was named Business Travel News Journalist of the Year (trade) and CNN Business Traveller Senior Producer Rosie Tomkins won Best Newcomer to Business Travel or Meetings & Events Journalism.

Durgahee won for her CNN Business Traveller report on how the world’s largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380, is built.

Ginny Buckley, broadcaster and journalist and chair of the judging panel, said: “Ayesha’s strong use of imagery, great interview technique and strong script put her ahead of the pack We were all impressed with this evocative film that captured an iconic moment”.

This was the second time Durgahee has been honoured with the Award; she was also named Business Travel News Journalist of the Year in 2010, for her CNN Business Traveller report on ‘Aero-toxic Syndrome’.

Tomkins, who has produced CNN Business Traveller since 2012, has crafted a new highly entertaining format for the show, as well as using her skills as a reporter. She won Best Newcomer for a report on the rise of in-flight wi-fi.
