CNN Original Series “Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown” Wins Two 2013 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards

CNN’s high-rated new series, Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown, which premiered in April, was honored with two Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards during a presentation at the NOKIA Theater in Los Angeles earlier tonight.  This is the first time CNN has been awarded an Emmy in the primetime competition.

The series earned Emmy Awards in the following categories:

  • Outstanding Informational Series or Special. Award recipients: Anthony Bourdain, executive producer/host; Christopher Collins, executive producer; Lydia Tenaglia, executive producer; Sandra Zweig, executive producer; Sally Freeman, producer; Tom Vitale, producer.
  • Outstanding Cinematography For Nonfiction Programming: “Myanmar”  (the series premiere episode offered an inside look at Myanmar, the country formerly known as Burma, discovering the fabled beauty and local cuisines of a country that had been, up until recently, off-limits to outsiders.). Award recipients: Todd Liebler, director of photography; Zach Zamboni, director of photography; Morgan Fallon, director of photography.

Adding to the celebratory mood, season two of Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown premiered tonight at 9pm ET with the episode “Jerusalem,” marking the first time the host and crew have filmed a show in this area, including Gaza and the West Bank.

The one-hour weekend lifestyle series follows host Anthony Bourdain—world-renowned chef, bestselling author and multiple-Emmy winning television personality—as he travels across the globe to uncover little-known areas of the world and celebrate diverse cultures by exploring food and dining rituals.

The new season of Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown also features parts unknown within Spain, New Mexico, Copenhagen, Sicily, Detroit, Tokyo and South Africa.
