This month ‘Leading Women’ focuses on two exceptional businesswomen from opposite sides of the globe – one is an entrepreneurial pioneer from China; the other is a CEO of a Fortune 500 corporation based from the United States.

Zhang Xin (pictured left) is China’s female property magnate and the seventh richest self-made businesswoman in the world, worth more than Oprah Winfrey. Under her leadership SOHO China, the company she co-founded with her husband Pan Shiyi, has become the largest developer in the Chinese capital Beijing. In addition to the many iconic projects she has developed in Beijing’s city centre, Zhang Xin has also overseen the development of two award-winning boutique resorts, including the Commune by the Great Wall, for which she was honoured as a patron of architectural works at the 2002 Venice Biennale.

Ilene Gordon (pictured right) is the chairman, president and CEO of Ingredion. The company, which she joined in 2009, produces ingredient solutions for food, beverage, brewing and industrial customers around the world and posted 2012 revenues of $6.5 billion. In addition to her work with Ingredion, Gordon serves on the board of directors of International Paper.

This month ‘Winning Post’ heads to Ireland to the Irish Oaks, the country’s premier fillies’ race.

Aiden O’Brien’s Ballydoyle racehorse training operation is always well-represented at Irish Oaks, and this year is no exception. ‘Winning Post’ meets the venerable trainer himself as well as his jockey son, Joseph.

The show also meets Johnny Murtagh – all-time race leader. These days the jockey is turning his hand to training – albeit whilst still retaining his license to ride. Host Francesca Cumani meets the mercurial Murtagh and gets a glimpse into his two lives.

No visit to Ireland would be complete without a peek at one of the most formidable training operations in the world, Kildangan Stud. Some of the finest and most valuable stallions in the world can be found at the stud farm, which has a reputation for producing some of the finest racehorses competing today.

One year before the FIFA World Cup, all eyes are on Brazil. ‘Ready to Play?’ takes a look at how the country is preparing for the world’s most-watched and best-loved footballing event.

Will the promised stadiums be completed on time? How will Brazil’s aging infrastructure – its roads, trains, mass transit and power system – cope with the crush of visitors next year? CNN’s Pedro Pinto and Harry Reekie set themselves a challenge to negotiate Rio’s tourist hotspots against the clock, using public transport whenever possible.

Brazil is seen by many as the spiritual home of football and ‘Ready to Play?’ explores the colour and passion of a country where the sport is synonymous with national identity. The programme accompanies a passionate young fan to the boisterous youth section of a crowd and demonstrates that, in Brazil, watching a game is almost as tiring as playing in one.

The Maracana, in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, is one of the world’s most famous stadiums. Almost 200,000 people piled in to watch the World Cup final there in 1950, and now more than 60 years later it has been redeveloped for the 2014 World Cup. ‘Ready to Play?’ takes a tour of the iconic arena.

Also in the programme, CNN’s Paula Newton reports on the most eco-friendly World Cup stadium in history, Arena Amazonia, which has been designed with sustainability in mind and sits in the shadow of the Amazon rainforest.
