'Beauty & The Priest' – Anderson Cooper Special Report debuts tonight at 10:00pm ET and PT

CNN’s Gary Tuchman reports the remarkable case of Irene Garza, a young school teacher and beauty queen was brutally raped and murdered 53 years ago in McAllen, Texas.  Today, the one man who local and state police still believe is her murderer, remains free and living a normal life in Arizona.

Years ago, a controversial grand jury session failed to lead to an indictment of the man, who, at the time of the murder, was a Catholic priest.  He is believed to be the last person to have seen Irene Garza alive, when he heard her confession on the day before Easter.  Garza’s short, accomplished life which was an inspiration for many – her death, and the lingering questions are examined in this one-hour Anderson Cooper Special Report documentary.

Anderson Cooper Special Report: Beauty & The Priest debuts on CNN at 10:00pm ET & PT on Friday, May 31.  This program encores on Saturday, June 01 at 8:00pm and 11:00pm ET & PT.

Video shows Boston bombing suspects at gym days before attack

In surveillance video recorded at a Boston gym and obtained by CNN, the manager - who was off-camera - asked the brothers to take off their shoes, as stated on the gym's posted rules.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, complies right away. Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, refuses to take off his shoes and argues instead.

The manager later e-mailed the owner asking him to ban Tamerlan Tsarnaev, saying he's arrogant, selfish and never helps anyone else.

CNN's Rafael Romo first to interview Arizona Mom Accused of Smuggling from Mexican Jail

CNN’s Rafael Romo was the first reporter to interview Yanira Maldonado from inside a Mexican jail about her arrest and being detained in Mexico.

Romo and his CNN crew have been the first outsiders (other than her family) that Maldonado has seen in almost a week.

The devout Mormon and mother of seven wept and maintained her innocence. Maldonado told Romo that she has been relying on the scriptures to survive.

"Reading the scriptures, reading the Book of Mormon, praying, fasting," Maldonado told CNN. "And all the support that I've been getting from my family, my husband, my children, and everybody out there reaching out to help."

Yanira Maldonado was accused of drug smuggling last week. Authorities stopped the bus Maldonado was riding in and and found 12.5 pounds (5.7 kilograms) of a substance that appeared to be marijuana under her seat. A Mexican state official also told CNN it appears that Maldonado was framed. Story: Mom in Mexican jail: 'I'm not a criminal'

Sen. John McCain talks to Anderson Cooper about his trip to Syria and meeting with rebel leaders

In his first interview since crossing the border into Syria, Senator McCain speaks to CNN's Anderson Cooper about his trip and his meeting with rebel leaders.

Below is a rushed sound bite from the interview. Please credit all usage to Anderson Cooper 360°.

Anderson Cooper:  Has being there has you know shaking these peoples’ hands looking them in the eye being on Syrian soil, has it changed or intensified your feelings in any way?

Sen. McCain:  its intensified because when you look at the faces of these people and hear their stories so many of them have lost family members, so many of them have lost friends this is a pretty bloody, bloody business that they've been in. And of course it's been as you might imagine identified, intensified because these are human beings that are trying to achieve the same thing that we have shed American blood and treasure for well over 200 years.
