CNN updates ‘The World According to Lance Armstrong’

Reported by Quentin McDermott and produced by Four Corners originally for the Australian Broadcast Corporation, this riveting documentary debriefs how the case against cyclist Lance Armstrong, who has now admitted using illegal doping to enhance his athletic performances, compelled his apparent confession — after years of passionate denials.

McDermott reviews the origins of the suspicions of Armstrong’s usage of steroids, hormones, blood transfusions, and other performance enhancements — dating back to the 1990s, and punctuated with footage from Armstrong’s only ever on-camera deposition.

The testimony of former close friends, cycling teammates, reporters who have followed the sport for years, and those familiar with the science of doping and evading detection are all reflected with video of Armstrong’s own riveting 2005 videotaped deposition in which he denies using illegal substances and accuses the accusers.  The World According to Lance Armstrong includes interviews with former Armstrong teammates Tyler Hamilton and Frankie Andreu, as well as other witnesses.

The World According to Lance Armstrong will air on CNN/U.S.  on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 7:00pm, 10:00pm, and 1:00am ET & PT.
