Rep. Steve Israel: Benefits off the table, subsidies on

Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY) reflects on President Obama and Speaker John Boehner’s negotiations over the fiscal cliff and says he feels benefits are off the table, but all subsidies should be considered.

Rep. says, “First of all, let’s remember that we already passed and effectuated into law, nearly $1 trillion in savings in the Budget Control Act last year. That ought to count towards this deal…. Moving forward the President has put nearly $350 billion in savings and entitlement reform on the table. What I fundamentally disagree with in terms of the Republican proposal is they want to do it out of the benefits side of the table.”
