Weekday News Show Premieres Monday, September 24, and Airs 4-5 p.m., ET

HLN launches the new daily news program Making It In America, hosted by Vinnie Politan, on Monday, September 24. The program, which will air 4-5pm ET, will focus on the news stories, trends and newsmakers that illustrate how Americans are surviving and, in some cases, thriving in today’s challenging economic climate, it was announced by Scot Safon, executive vice president & general manager HLN.

“While achieving the American Dream seems elusive to many these days, you would be surprised how people are embracing the challenges and persevering. They’re inventing new economies, creating new solutions, partnering and innovating. Fully covering the topic of ‘Making It In America,’ means capturing the challenges, the victories, the inventiveness and the struggles. It is a big area to tackle, and we’re excited to have Vinnie Politan—popular HLN host, dad, homeowner– lead our coverage,” said Safon.

Led by Politan, the one-hour program will address relevant issues that include re-inventing oneself after job loss, earning extra income, becoming self-sufficient, and pursuing higher education at a time when college costs are skyrocketing.

Making It In America will also feature segments and guests who can speak to topics and theme weeks that include: “Mothers of Invention,” “Food Trucks,” “Realities of Success,” “Everyday Savers,” “Upcycling,” and “Fund Our Pitch.” HLN correspondent Susan Hendricks will anchor the newsbreak cut-ins.

Politan, well-known to viewers for his work on the former HLN programs Prime News and Special Report, is also an anchor on In Session on truTV. Earlier, he was a correspondent and host on Court TV (the pre-cursor to In Session) since 2001. An accomplished attorney with an expansive knowledge of high-profile criminal cases, Politan is also an author and radio show host.

“Making It In America will spotlight the stories of people who, whether through job loss, downsizing, or foreclosure, for example, are re-inventing themselves and adjusting their American dream. We’re here to not only tell their stories but offer ideas, options and solutions. And, we will continue this daily conversation online and through social media,” said Katherine Green, senior vice president and managing editor, HLN.
