CNN will air HBO’s “Teddy: In His Own Words,” the story of a public life which had extraordinary influence upon American culture and politics, near the eve of the convening of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC.
Illustrated with archival newsreel footage, exclusive home movie film, and still photographs, three-time Emmy® winner Peter Kunhardt (“JFK: In His Own Words” and “Bobby Kennedy: In His Own Words”) and award-winning producer Sheila Nevins reveal the 77-year life of the ‘Lion of the Senate’ in an HBO documentary broadcast on CNN. Told in the late Senator’s own voice, he recounts the tragic losses he and his family endured, his personal demons, triumphal campaigns, and professional crusades for voting rights, civil rights, health reform, labor protections, education policy, immigration policy, and Irish nationalism.
