O'Brien to RNC rep.: Platform on abortion is specific and different than Romney's stance

RNC Communications Director Sean Spicer joins Starting Point to discuss the potential impact of Tropical Storm Isaac on the convention and the party’s platform on abortion. CNN Anchor Soledad O’Brien points out that the party's abortion platform is more specific than he’s making it out to be, having no specific language around exceptions, which Mitt Romney supports.

Spicer says, “The Republican party, as I said, is a pro life party. Our platform is just a simple set of principles…. There is no additional language. So to talk about exemptions or whatever is just not found in the platform. We also have a principle that says we are for a balanced budget amendment. We don’t get into details about whether we support cuts here or there….”
