Former Congressman Patrick Kennedy on his visit with Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and bipolar disorder

New pictures of Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr (D-IL) have been released.

The congressman has not been seen on Capitol Hill since May because he’s undergoing treatment for bipolar disorder at the Mayo Clinic. But good friend Patrick Kennedy, a former congressman who has battled bipolar disorder himself, visited Jackson today and told CNN’s Ashleigh Banfield that Rep. Jackson “is making his treatment a priority.”

Kennedy also talked about the stigma associated with mental health diseases, saying that if Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. had been hospitalized for cancer “most Americans wouldn’t care, because they would be saying Jesse go get the help.”
