Fmr. Navy Seal: Pres. Obama responsible for leaks; takes too much credit for bin Laden raid

Former Navy Seal and CEO of The Special Operations Opsec Education Fund Scott Taylor explains why he thinks President Obama is responsible for security leaks and he is taking too much credit for the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

CNN Anchor Soledad O’Brien asks about criticism of his organization for being partisan, when claiming to be nonpartisan. She says, “You’re Republican. You ran for Congress in 2010 in Virginia’s second congressional district. You have a rep in your group who worked for the Bush administration. You share office space with Republican groups.”

Taylor responds, “I understand the criticism that people will say, you’re a Republican. I’m an American first. I’m an American before I’m a Republican and I was in the special operations community and buried a lot of friends over the past few years. If by speaking out in a nonpartisan way will hopefully prevent any future lives being lost unnecessarily, I’ll do it every single day.”

CNN Contributor Ryan Lizza points out that if his theory was true that Pres. Obama should take credit for the leaks because he is Commander in Chief and oversees the military, the President would also be the one take responsibility for the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien airs weekday mornings from 7-9am ET on CNN.
