Egyptian presidential candidate sounds off on U.S. presidential campaign rhetoric

Egyptian presidential frontrunner Dr. Amr Moussa joined CNN International’s Christiane Amanpour for the Wednesday, May 16 edition of Amanpour.  Dr. Moussa discussed what he thought about the potential policy implications for a Romney Administration for his region.  This was his response:

CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR, HOST OF “AMANPOUR”:  What do you make of the challengers, the Republican challengers. Now it’s basically boiled down to Mitt Romney. Their potential policy in your region.

DR. AMR MOUSSA, EGYPTIAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE:  Well, I take what Mr. Romney says as electoral rhetoric. And I hope that if elected he will reconsider such positions that if, really, he means what he says, will be detrimental to the interests and prestige and relations of the United States with the whole of this region.

AMANPOUR:  Specifically what?

MOUSSA:  Well if, if, if his position is that aligned to the, the, the most fanatic Israeli current policies, Israeli current policy, so it will be very negative I must say.

Amanpour airs weekdays on CNN International at 3:00pm with a replay at 5:00pm Eastern in the U.S.  and at 21:00 CET, with a replay at 23:00 CET.  The full transcript for this program will be posted here later today.
