Rep. King: ‘There is no profiling’ in NYPD; Illegitimate, ‘irresponsible charges to make’

Rep. Peter King (R-NY) says ‘there is no racial profiling’ by the New York Police Department on Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien.

When The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza asks King what his position is on racial profiling and if he thinks the NYPD is above criticism, King responds, “First of all , there is no profiling. And that’s the absolute nonsense that people like you and others are propagating.”

Lizza interjects, “I’m not propagating anything. I’m just telling you that there’s been some very good questions raised about what the NYPD’s doing. ”

King replies, “I’m telling you there is no profiling. So, I want you to take that back…. You have no evidence of profiling at all. They use terms like profiling, spying, casually and cavalierly. And you don’t know what you’re talking about.”

When CNN guest anchor Brooke Baldwin says that Lizza brought up very valid points, King exclaims, “They’re not valid points.”

Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien airs weekday mornings from 7-9am ET on CNN.
