Bill Bradley: Richard Mourdock misses ‘essence of America’

Former Senator Bill Bradley (D-NJ) reacts to Richard Mourdock’s comments on not wanting to compromise in office, made on Starting Point after winning the Illinois Senate GOP primary election over Dick Lugar.

Bradley says, “I think what I heard Mr. Mourdock say kind of misses what’s the essence of America. I mean, you know, we wouldn’t have a county without compromise. We wouldn’t have a constitution.”

He adds, “Let’s compromise, for example, on the debt. Let’s compromise on how we get the deficit reduced in this country. I mean, you’re not going to get it reduced unless you hit the big items, which are Social Security, Medicare, taxes, and defense. You’ve got to get them all in there.”

Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien airs weekday mornings from 7-9am ET on CNN.
