Piers Morgan Tonight: David Axelrod on Joe Biden’s comments “That is the president’s policy”

Last night, David Axelrod, the Obama campaign’s senior strategist, joined the show for a timely and engaging interview centered around recent comments made by the vice president.

On Sunday, Joe Biden appeared on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” revealing his personal feelings on the subject of gay marriage:

“I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women and heterosexual men and women marrying men, are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties,” Biden told David Gregory.

Axelrod says the president concurs:

“I feel, Piers, that on the policy that the vice president was describing there, that they are in complete accord. That is the president’s policy. He believes that couples, heterosexual couples, – gay couples should – should have – have the same legal rights,”  Axelrod said. “So what the vice president was stating there was very much in keeping with that policy.”
