Newt Gingrich on Robert DeNiro’s joke

In the aftermath of actor Robert DeNiro‘s recent “white first lady” joke, and subsequent labeling of Gingrich as a “hypocrite” for demanding an apology, the former House Speaker offered his reaction tonight on “Piers Morgan Tonight”:

“I just thought De Niro’s quote was in bad taste. If it had been a Conservative talk radio show host, who said exactly the same thing, but reversed the racial reference, the Left would have exploded with rage,” says Gingrich. “But of course, if it’s one of their own, and after all it’s only attacking Republicans, that’s perfectly appropriate.”
