DCCC chair: Democrats will take House majority and reform Super PACs

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairman Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY) talks to CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien and the Starting Point panel about the role Super PACs will play in the 2012 presidential race, the DNC ad offensive against Rick Santorum and whether or not the House of Representatives is up for grabs this year.

Israel says, “So if a Republican will use super PACs, [Democrats] will too.  When we take the majority the first thing we’ll do is pass the disclose act so people know who’s funding those PACs, and seek to amend the constitution so that special corporate interests cannot influence elections.”

He adds, “The stakes are so high for the middle class.  You had a House Republican leadership that has turned its back on them, that has tried to end Medicare as we know it, that has been for tax breaks for millionaires and tried to raise taxes on the middle class.  We’re going to fight them tooth and nail with every tool that we have.  And that’s why I’m so confident because of their wrong priorities, that’s why I’m so confident that the House is in play.”

Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien airs week mornings from 7-9am ET on CNN.
