Boston Globe editor: Jon Huntsman has been bold and clear

Peter Canellos, editorial page editor for The Boston Globe, explains to CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien why the paper chose to endorse Jon Huntsman.

Canellos said, “[Mitt Romney’s] run a very, very cautious campaign. It’s very hard to tell from the Mitt Romney who’s out there on the stand and comparing him to the Mitt Romney who was Governor here. It’s very hard to tell what he’s going to be like as president, where as Jon Huntsman has been bold and he’s been clear.”

In regard to Huntsman’s low polling numbers in New Hampshire, Canellos responded, “There’s also a huge number of Independents in New Hampshire… and I think Huntsman’s numbers will be a lot better….”

On Huntsman’s debate performances, he said, “[Huntsman] wasn’t harsh, he wasn’t out of line in any way and a lot of the others have been.”

Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien airs weekdays 7-9am ET on CNN.
