‘Road to Durban: A Green City Journey’ continues its journey in November to Kenya with a team of experts on board to investigate planning, environmental and sustainability issues facing Kenyan cities, as well as the green initiatives currently in development. During the 17th session of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) in Durban, South Africa in December, delegates from around the world will meet to discuss the ongoing international climate change negotiations and necessary steps to tackle greenhouse gas emissions. Hosted by CNN’s David McKenzie (pictured), ‘Road to Durban: A Green City Journey’ explores how cities are making strides in their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. Viewers interactively participate in the series, contributing stories and ideas about their own unique carbon reducing creations and how their cities are working to improve the environment via CNN iReport, as well as social media platforms Facebook and Twitter. ‘Road to Durban: A Green City Journey’ has so far visited theUK,Germany andTurkey, makingKenya its penultimate stop before reaching a climax inDurban.

With less than a year to go until the eyes of the world are on Londonfor the 2012 Olympics, CNN continues its build-up in Aiming for Gold’.  Speaking to the biggest Olympic stars, as well as the newsmakers driving the myriad decisions, the programme covers all aspects of the event financial, social, cultural, political and sporting.

In November, the show to the event meets Im Dong Hyun (pictured) a partially-sighted archer who is going for a gold medal for South Korea. Also this month, an exploration of the relationship between art and the Games and how aesthetics and design are key elements in making the event memorable. The ‘Aiming For Gold’ team will also be getting triathlon lessons from the newly crowned world champion Alistair Brownlee.

This month, MainSail’ meets crews in Alicante,Spain as they prepare to embark on a grand-prix lap of the planet aboard seventy-foot racing boats. In crewed ocean racing there is no tougher competition than the Volvo Ocean Race, with those on board pushed to the limit and beyond, 24 hours a day. This month, show host double Olympic gold medallist Shirley Robertson (pictured) meets the hopeful crews before they begin their journey and reveals which teams she feels have race-winning potential. There’s a look at the thirty-eight-year evolution of the race, where amateur enthusiasts have been replaced by hardcore professionals and freeze-dried food and water has taken the place of tinned fruit and the occasional glass of wine. Is the race easier to win now than in 1973?
