Tory Dunnan Joins CNN Newsource as ‘RunningMate’ Correspondent

Tory Dunnan will join CNN Newsource from WPBF in West Palm Beach, Fla. as a correspondent serving more than 800 affiliates, it was announced today by Paul Crum, vice president of news operations, administration and affiliate services for CNN/U.S.

The 2012 election year promises to be a wild ride as the GOP and President Obama fight to redefine their identities in drastically changing times.  From terrorism to taxes, heated issues are adding fuel to a fired-up audience of voters looking for answers.  CNN RunningMate 2012 is a market-exclusive source for the personalized coverage, award-winning reporting, and insightful analysis for one of the biggest stories for the next year.  Dunnan will report from political events, the first presidential caucus in Iowa and the first presidential primary in New Hampshire, the CNN-sponsored debates, and the political conventions.

“Tory is a driven communicator with a passion for politics.  She will help us continue to give our affiliate news partners and their viewers distinctive, first-class coverage of the politics behind the election cycle,” Crum said.

Dunnan joins CNN Newsource from WPBF in West Palm Beach, Fla, where she served as a correspondent covering everything from politics to natural disasters.  Before moving to West Palm Beach, she was a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for WAFF 48 News in Huntsville, Ala.  She won an Alabama AP award for her live coverage of Vice President Dick Cheney’s visit to the area.

She graduated magna cum laude with an honors B.A. degree in Public and Private Sector Organizations from Brown University and she earned her master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

CNN Newsource, comprised of more than 800 affiliates including TV stations and local/regional cable news channels throughout North America, is the most widely distributed syndicated news service. Through continuous digital media distribution and five digital satellite channels, CNN Newsource provides partners with the news content necessary to produce competitive newscasts. This includes: CNN Worldwide’s global newsgathering resources; the collective coverage power of CNN Newsource affiliates; customized live coverage of breaking news from CNN correspondents and localized CNN Money Matters reports live from the floor of the NYSE. Additionally, CNN Newsource stations benefit from CNN Newsbeam, which provides satellite time and fiber connectivity from CNN’s vast global resources at lower than market rates. CNN Newsource also helps prepare tomorrow’s journalists by providing service at no charge to colleges and universities through its Newsource in the Classroom program.
