The four-day convention is from July 21 – 24 in San Diego, California with over 125,000 attendees expected to convene on the city.

‘Geek Out’, CNN’s popular franchise, takes center stage and is one of the main features of CNN’s Comic-Con coverage on the ‘What’s Next’ blog. ‘Geek Out’ reports on pop culture events and geeky news stories through the lens of fan and nerd cultures. CNN is scheduled to have ‘Geek Out’ sessions with some of the most respected and beloved stars in the sci-fi and fantasy world. After the crowds and fans return to their homes after Comic-Con, CNN is making a place for fans to “geek out” on a regular basis – the network will debut the forthcoming ‘Geek Out’ blog, just in time for Dragon*Con in September 2011.

CNN Express, the network’s mobile broadcast center, is positioned just steps away from the San Diego Convention Center – right in the heart of the Comic Con action – and is welcoming big name Hollywood celebs like comic book-legend Stan Lee, acclaimed directors Jon Favreau, Robert Rodriguez, famed actor Rob Lowe, ‘Twilight’ superstar Kellen Lutz, ‘Lord of the Rings’ and Hobbit star Elijah Wood and Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill and more are to be interviewed. The interviews will take place inside the fully high-definition mobile news bureau and will appear on CNN platforms like CNN/U.S. and CNN.com.

CNN iReport, the network’s global participatory news community, is teaming up with EW.com to enlist iReporters to share their Comic-Con experience from an on the ground perspective. iReport and EW.com will issue assignments on topics ranging from asking fans to document the Comic-Con sights and sounds, to sharing photos and videos of the costumes, celebrity spottings and the legendary Comic-Con night life. The best of the iReport contributions will be vetted and featured on CNN.com, EW.com and HLN's Showbiz Tonight, which airs Sunday through Friday at 11p ET/PT.

The CNN.com ‘What’s Next’ blog, is reporting on the latest of what’s next in the comic book and video game worlds and is acting as a hub for all of CNN’s Comic-Con coverage. The blog will feature posts, images, video, iReports and real-time tweets on everything from the Comic-Con panels, to film premieres and celebrity interviews: to include the ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’s’ fan mania, the cast of the new ‘Spiderman’s’ Comic-Con debut, the world premiere of the movie ‘Cowboys and Aliens’ and the latest news on the sci-fi and fantasy TV shows that people know and love.
