Going Green

CNN’s environmental series Going Green returns in July with a week of special programming including ‘Extreme Science’, a one-hour documentary hosted by special correspondent, environmentalist and explorer Philippe Cousteau, taking viewers to one of the coldest places on earth, the Arctic, where scientists are studying the effects of global warming. The programme documents the research conducted at Catlin Ice Base, as the team tests the salinity levels of the water, acidification, to breaking through the ice.  Viewers also witness how the scientists try to maintain the plane runway, prepare in the event of being attacked by a polarbear and attempt to operate in freezing temperatures, regularly – 40 degrees centigrade.

Going Green throughout the week presents a series of reports looking at developing technologies and issues affecting our world. The series culminates with ‘Green Pioneers’, a half-hour special programme which profiles the people who are working at the front lines to make a difference to tackle today’s environmental challenges.
