Commentary on ’16 and Pregnant’ by creator of the show

Lauren Dolgen, the brains behind “16 and Pregnant,” “Teen Mom” and “Teen Mom 2” sounds off for CNN.com Entertainment on why MTV developed these series in Why I created MTV’s ’16 and Pregnant’.  She says the shows tell the honest, unpleasant truth of teen pregnancy, shining a light on the struggles that young parents often face.

Dolgen was inspired to create ’16 and Pregnant’ after reading about Jamie Lynn Spears’ pregnancy three years ago.  She decided that the other 750,000 teens that get pregnant each year needed a voice.
