American survivor calls home

Steve Barrett, an American teacher who survived Japan’s earthquake and tsunami, tells CNN’s Paula Hancocks about his experience following Friday’s disaster.

Barrett, who had no service on his mobile, borrowed Hancocks’ phone so he could call home for the first time.

“You have no idea how nice it is to hear your voice,” Barrett says to his mom.
